Frequently asked questions
Elk? Deer? Moose? Which kind of Antler Chew is best?
Great Question! While each of these antler types have the same benefits, (clean teeth, brain function support, and immune support), each antler type has its own characteristics.
What are the benefits of Antler Chews?
Antlers are primarily made up of an outer bony material wrapped around bone marrow. This kind of marrow is a DRY marrow, meaning there's no staining or odor. (Woohoo!) Antler chews are long lasting, natural ways to clean teeth, and are beneficial to healthy brain function and immune system support. Antlers are great natural sources of trace minerals such as calcium, zinc, potassium and manganese.
Helpful Tips on introducing Antler Chews
Antler Chews are fantastic chews & treats, but like any treat, it's important to supervise your dog. Here are some tips to keep your dog safe and enjoying their new antler chew!
Antler Dog Chews should be purchased large enough to where there is no possibility of a choking hazard. If you are unsure of the size, please reach out to us and we'll offer some size suggestions.
Split antler chews are ideal for dogs new to chewing on antlers because the marrow is exposed, giving your furry best friend some incentive. You'll want to make sure your dog is gnawing on the antler instead of trying to break the antler chew in half.
Please take away the antler chew if it becomes worn down and small enough that your dog can swallow/choke on it.
If your dog likes their antler so much that they guard it from you, you can teach them to drop the antler for a treat. This helps build in good behavior.
What size Antler Chew does my Dog need?
It's very important to pick the right size antler chew for your dog. To make it easier, we've made some general recommendations based on average breed weights.
